MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - On the eve of the Mobile Mayoral Election, FOX10 News spoke to incumbent Mayor Sam Jones about his expectations for election day.
A weekend many of us spent relaxing, Mayor Sam Jones spent campaigning, sharing his message and gathering support.
Monday, August 26, the work didn’t stop. In fact, it only kicked into another gear.
“It’s a very, very busy day, but it’s not unexpected," Mayor Sam Jones said. "It’s something that you have to do. I think for the most part, we’ve done pretty well putting things together. We still have people standing out on the corners, and we still have some other activities going on, but the most important thing is to get ready for the morning.”
He said that’s filling some 38 polling places, all the while still managing the city.
FOX10 News asked the mayor - win or lose, if he's impressed with the campaign he has run, and if there's anything he would change.
“We are actually operating on roughly one-fourth of the resources in terms of finances or any other resources that Sandy has, and I’m pretty pleased with the way we’ve been able to operate at this point with the resources we have," Mayor Jones said.
With so much uncertain Monday night, you may think Mayor Jones has a lot on his mind. Really, only the most basic concerns.
"Do you think you’ll get any sleep tonight?" FOX10 News asked.
“Very little, very little," Mayor Jones replied. "But I hope to get some because we have a long day tomorrow.”
