Authorities said Reed attempted rob Doug’s Quickmart in Theodore with a screwdriver.
The clerk pulled out a bat, and Reed moved on.
Investigators said as Reed was trying to get away when he literally ran into a major obstacle: a safety checkpoint at Padgett Switch and Two Mile roads.
Officers said Reed ignored their request to stop and ran through the intersection. A chase began and Reed led officers to the Silver King Golf Club.
"Came in through the parking lot, best I can tell,” said Superintendent of Silver King Gulf Club Robert Wayman.
Officers and Reed drove onto the green.
"When they got over to the middle of our fairway, we have a fairway that runs across there. Evidently he realized all the pine trees, there was a big dip, down there. He wouldn't have made it so they had to swing around really quick,” said Wayman.
Reed almost ran into a deep ditch near the course.
"He just barely came from going down into that field through a fence down a ditch. You can see the skid marks where he tore up the tall grass and they exited out of here,” Wayman said.
The chase continued to the Fowl River Bridge. Authorities said Reed jumped out of his truck. They said officers ran after him, tased him and took him into custody.
