MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) - On September 19 and 20, the Mobile County Street Enforcement Narcotics Team, or MCSENT, and Mobile Police Narcotics and Vice Unit conducted a citywide “Prostitution Sweep” operation.
During the operation, Mobile Police Department used undercover officers to find people engaged in a variety of illegal activities.

Investigators said they conducted the operation based on citizen complaints, but some citizens were surprised to find the activity was happening near their home.
“It's a long list. Wow Broad and Palmetto? I am completely shocked,” said Daniel Preudhomme.
He said he has seen police around but he didn’t know why they were patrolling the Broad and Palmetto intersection specifically.
“When you have areas where prostitution starts to show up, you also see other crimes: vehicle burglaries, residential burglaries, violent crimes like robbery or assault,” said spokesperson for the Mobile Police Department, Cpl. Chris Levy.
Preudhomme said it’s reassuring to know police are doing their job.
“We thank them greatly,” he said.
Police arrested 33 people resulting in two felonies, 48 misdemeanors and seized one handgun.
