PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A Florida Panhandle man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting a toddler.
An Escambia County judge sentenced 21-year-old Dwayne Pinestraw on Tuesday. A jury found him guilty in June of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and firing into a dwelling.
The Pensacola News Journal reports that 22-month-old Ty'Quarius Moultrie was fatally shot in July 2011 at Pensacola Village apartments.
Authorities say Pinestraw was seeking revenge after being robbed by two people. Vincent Dennis, a friend of the toddler's family, was Pinestraw's intended target. Dennis was hit three times but survived. Ty'Quarius' wounds were fatal.
