PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Pensacola Beach officials said they are watching the development of Tropical Storm Karen closely and preparing for the possibility of the storm strengthening.
Executive Director of the Santa Rosa Island Authority Buck Lee said workers have already begun getting valuable equipment off the beach and they will begin closing the beach to the public on Friday afternoon, October 4.
Lee said officials may close the Bob Sikes Bridge leading onto the island on Saturday depending on the weather.
Lee said there are no current plans to evacuate. However, plans could change depending on the storms trajectory and strength.
