FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (WALA) - The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office said they arrested a Shalimar man in connection with a robbery and shooting incident during a home invasion.
Michael David Tuele, 27, was arrested on Nov. 21 and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and home invasion robbery.
Authorities said Christopher Carroll was shot in the chest and stabbed several times in the back during a struggle with Tuele as Tuele tried to break into his Fort Walton Beach home. A woman at the home who had called authorities said the suspect entered the house and demanded money and drugs while he menaced her and her two children.
After the fight with Carroll, police said, Tuele fled.
Authorities said a witness contacted them because Tuele was bleeding when he picked him up from a convenience store.
The witness said Tuele told them, "I think he shot me. I may be bleeding to death."
The OCSO located Tuele at his home and arrested him.
Carroll remained in critical condition at a Pensacola hospital on Nov. 21.
