MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Mobile County Sheriff's Office responded to Pecan Terrace Drive in Theodore in reference to a 911 call that deputies said is a suspicious homicide.
According to reports, Anita Davis called authorities claiming 44-year-old Terry Wayne Wilson came into their home and attempted to attack her husband, Ronald Davis, with a knife.
Davis told authorities in defense, her husband assaulted Wilson with a baseball bat, resulting in Wilson's death.
Davis said she was not home when this incident occurred but was notified by her husband. When Davis arrived at the home, she called 911.
"Right now, they're saying a guy came at him with a weapon, and they had to defend himself. It appears to be blunt force trauma," said Sgt. Robbie Riddick with the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office ruled the crime as a homicide and is still under investigation. Ronald Davis has been charged with murder.
However, for Ronald Davis, this wasn't the first time he had been in trouble with the law. His most recent arrest was June 11, 2013 for possession of a controlled substance with four more arrests in the past two years.
Residents said they are shocked.
As one onlooker said, "This neighborhood is always quiet."
"I grew up here. We've been in this neighborhood over 15 years and we've never had anything like this happen. This is the type of neighborhood where you don't even have to lock your doors or car doors. It's always quiet and never any suspicious activity," said another neighbor.
The sheriff's office told FOX10 News Wilson had been living with Ronald and Anita Davis for about eight weeks and do not have a cause of the crime.
If you have any information about the crime, you're asked to call the Mobile County Sheriff's Office.
