MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - FOX10 News sorted through more than 600 grand jury cases Friday, August 30 and found a number of indictments on cases we've been tracking.
A grand jury decided there was enough evidence to charge Shirley Bowman with attempted murder for allegedly choking her four-year-old granddaughter Ireland Carroll.
On August 2, Mobile Police said Carroll was found laying face down on Howells Ferry Road, after they believe Bowman had a psychotic episode. The child was found unconscious.
The Mobile County District Attorney's office said the child has made a "miraculous" recovery from the incident.
Shortly after the incident, Assistant District Attorney Jo Beth Murphree told FOX10 News this about the case: "It appeared the evidence would support attempted murder because based on the actions of the defendant, it seemed as though the intent was to cause death to the child."
FOX10 News is also following the deadly accident on Interstate 65 near the Mobile-Baldwin County line. It happened October 26, 2012.
The grand jury indicted Derek Lopez on two counts of murder after police said Lopez was driving a crane truck when he stopped in the right lane. That's when authorities said a pick-up truck crashed into the back of the truck.
James Barber, 74, and Lorine Frazier, 65, of Citronelle were killed. State Troopers believe Lopez may have been under the influence of narcotics.
Lopez was also indicted on separate charges. Records show Lopez was out on bail in December 2012 when police said he was driving under the influence and in possession of a controlled substance.
On this case, Lopez was indicted on DUI, no insurance and and possession of a controlled substance.
