MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile Police said two different parents called police on Monday, April 29, after learning that their children had burglarized homes.
Police said the crimes were not connected and coincidentally happened on the same day.
In the first crime, Mobile Police spokeswoman Ashley Rains said a Mobile mother became suspicious when her juvenile son came home with a gun.
Investigators said the mother determined that the juvenile had committed a home burglary along the 4100 block of Bayfront Road, where the suspect had previously done yard work for the homeowner.
Investigators said the mother contacted police, who responded to the scene and gathered enough evidence to arrest the juvenile.
Coincidentally, authorities said a similar crime happened the same day.
Police told FOX10 a man was performing work on a home along the 2400 block of Venetia Road with his son. Authorities said the father left for a brief period as his son continued working on the house.
When he arrived, police said the father found his son inside the residence burglarizing the home.
Investigators said the father notified police and the juvenile was arrested for burglary.
The names and ages of the juveniles are not being released, however, Mobile Police said these parents acted quickly and appropriately.
