MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - This could be the new state record for Bigeye Tuna caught aboard the 31ft Cape Horn "Shake It Out".
A Bigeye Tuna is a cousin of the more common Yellowfin and Blackfin Tuna.
It's often called "ahi" tuna. Eric Brousard caught the fish on a trip 150 miles south of Dauphin Island this past weekend. The current record is 102.7 lbs caught in 2011. This fish is 107.1 lbs.
The fish was weighed on the certified scales at Jemisons near Alabama Port. The application is being submitted, and we will soon know if this is an official state record.
