PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - An arrest has been made in the violent robbery of an Eight Mile gas station. We first showed you surveillance of the crime on FOX 10 News, July 1, 2013.
The video shows the suspect entered cashier's booth wearing a black t-shirt and strikes the cashier with a handgun several times.
The second suspect helped himself to whatever he could take, including the cashier's belongings.
Prichard police called the victim and her daughter at 5 a.m. July 2, 2013, with some good news. Zachary Moore was arrested; he faces robbery and felony probation violation charges.
Police said he is the man wearing the white t-shirt in the surveillance video.
"I just want to tell everybody thank you for calling in - I appreciate everybody that called in and identified them because now were able to catch them and they will not be on the street anymore to hurt another family," said the victim's daughter, who wished to remain anonymous.
Police said because of our coverage and the many phone calls Prichard Police received after we aired the story on July 1, they now know who to look for.
Prichard Police said that suspect is Joseph Caples. Police said he is the man wearing a black t-shirt and wielding the pistol in the video.
"I believe that my mom is a very strong person because she made it through a brutal attack and was able to pull herself together and call for help instead of just laying there," said the victim's daughter.
The victim's daughter said the man in the black t-shirt forced her mother into an office, where he continued to hit her with his pistol.
"He tried to kill her. She heard the gun click three times," said the daughter.
Jail records show Moore has not been assigned a court date or been given bond.
