PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - As many folks made their way to the polls on Tuesday, supporters from both parties continued campaigning with one last push to try and get their candidates in office.
Their rally began at the break of dawn, before the polls even opened in Escambia County at 7 a.m. on Nov. 6.
Kim Adkison describes herself as a lifelong Republican. She and other Escambia County Republican volunteers turned out this morning at the corner of 12th and Bayou Streets.
"This is a day of reckoning for America. We need to take our country back. We need to do this for our children and for everybody," Adkinson said, "We can not afford four more years going down the path we are going down. Mr. Romney has a history of working with both sides and he did a great job in Massachusetts. He is a businessman and knows what it's like to do payroll. He knows what it's like to solve problems."
The event was a Republican volunteer effort throughout the state, taking to the streets of cities from Pensacola to Miami.
It wasn't just volunteers taking the time to show support. Florida Representative Doug Broxon was there and said the cause is invaluable.
"Florida will be a swing state and, if we carry it, which I believe we will, we're going to send a statement that we believe in the values that Mitt Romney believes in," Broxon said.
For Democratic supporters, much of their efforts were spent making calls and campaigning at voting locations. The Escambia County Democratic Headquarters also offered free rides to vote for those who needed them.
Democratic campaigner Dianne Krumel says she believes President Obama deserves another shot.
"He has solid ideas and his math adds up. He brought the auto industry back around. He's saved jobs and added jobs," said Krumel.
