Ryan Balthrop is releasing his first official video, and you're invited to attend the "Way Down Low" video screening party on Thursday, May 2! The party starts at 7:00 p.m. at Veet's in downtown Mobile, and at 8:00 p.m., Ryan will be playing with Doug Previto.
Ryan Balthrop draws inspiration from his southern upbringing in Mobile, and from his years living and performing in the Eastern Caribbean. His debut album, which he released in 2011, presents a sophisticated blend of Americana, folk, blues, and a taste of the islands.
Ryan has performed more than 250 shows each year with various southeastern bands since 1994, and has opened for acts such as: Dr. John, George Porter Jr., Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Wet Willie, Grayson Capps, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Donovan Frankenreiter, Bonerama, St. Paul and the Broken Bones amon gothers.
It 2010, Ryan Balthrop ventured on his own as a solo artist, performing solo, or with a growing list of talented musicians. "Leap of Faith", the follow up to his self titled debut, was released in September of 2012, and has been reviewed in local newspapers, and has been played on college and locally owned radio stations.
"Way Down Low', is the first single off Ryan's debut album. The video was recorded around his house by Port City Media Productions. A double live CD/DVD isalso in the works, drawing the best tracks from each of Balthrop's Cd Release parties recorded at The Shed in Mobile.
