Local multimedia website Jams Plus Media has joined hands with the historical Saenger Theatre in Mobile, AL for a cause entitled "THE SAENGER PROJECT."
On Friday June 21, 2013 Jams Plus Media will debut Saenger Nite Live, a show created for Mobile to celebrate our city in the beautiful Saenger Theatre. Saenger Nite Live was created by Dale Taylor and Clayton Roberts, founders of Jams Plus Media, and is an all live variety show based off of traditional programs such as the Johnny Cash Show, Wolfman Jack's Midnight Special, and mixed in with an array of comedy. A program of this nature does not exist today and will be produced as a live TV style theatre experience.
Dale Taylor was born in Nashville TN in 1969, and moved to Mobile in July 1980. Dale attended W.P. Davidson where in his high school newspaper his "After I Graduate" paragraph had a last sentence stating, "One day I want to host Late Night with Dale Taylor." Dale went on to the University of South Alabama on a Theater scholarship and since has performed from time to time with local theatre group Joe Jefferson Playhouse. In 2001 Dale began an over 7 year run as host of Jams Plus on local radio station 92.1 WZEW.
Clayton Roberts was born in Pensacola FL in 1973, and moved to Mobile to attend the University of South Alabama in 1994, where he obtained a degree with a minor in Photography. In 2010 with partner and co-creator Dale Taylor, they started Jams Plus Media at jamsplus.com , featuring internet-accessible radio shows, concert reviews and photography, album reviews, and interviews. Now in 2013 they have created Saenger Nite Live! Dale Taylor will begin his journey as host and producer of this Variety Show located in the historic Saenger Theatre in beautiful downtown Mobile that will focus on highlighting local talents in all areas of athletics, charity, and of course the arts.
For Opening Night on June 21 2013, Saenger Nite Live will feature the following Mobile talents:
- Musical Headliner – Delta Reign
- Musical act – Stereo Dogs
- Musical act – Charles Collins Ministries
- Dance – Broadway South
- Skits – Joe Jefferson Playhouse
- Athlete – Tre Williams – (St. Paul student going to Auburn University in Fall 2013
- Charity – Child Advocacy Center
- Cheer & Drum Team- Murphy High School
- Mardi Gras Group- Crewe of Columbus
The evening begins with a Street Party in front of the Saenger Theatre at 6:00pm, and Saenger Nite Live will begin at 7:00pm. There will be an intermission from 8:00-8:30pm, and then Musical Headliner Delta Reign will perform a concert until 10:00pm. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased from the Saenger Theatre Box Office; they can also be purchased at Callaghan's Irish Social Club, Moe's Original BBQ in Daphne, Cape Travel, Butch Cassidy's, Mobile Records, Brickyard Music Hall and The Hungry Owl. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Child Advocacy Center.
