DAILY DOT COM - Verizon is gearing up for a major launch on May 30. That's when the nation's largest wireless carrier will release its version of the Galaxy S4.
The Galaxy S4 includes a 5-inch HD display screen, expandable memory card slot, 13 mega pixel camera, and a number of photo features. Renako Jimmerson, manager of the Verizon Store in Mobile on Rangeline Road, talks about an eraser mode:
"You know how someone always jumps into your pictures, You don't want them in your picture you want to block them out, well now this hone has the capability of taking that and erasing it from your picture," explained Jimmerson.
There's also Dual Shot, which allows use of both the rear and front facing cameras at the same time, so the person using the phone can include themselves in pictures or videos if they want.
"It has eye detection. So if you tilt your head, and you have your phone, the phone is going to tilt with you. And if you look away, the phone will black out which will help save your battery life," Jimmerson said.
The Galaxy S4 is described as global ready, because it's equipped with software that literally turns the phone into a little pocket dictionary. It can translate up to nine different languages, including Japanese, and Spanish into a voice and or text message.
Other apps on the S4 include WatchON, which turns the smartphone into a home entertainment remote. Air View and Air Gesture let users interact with their smartphone without even touching it. Users hover a finger over the screen to check out emails, or wave a hand over the phone to scroll up and down a web-page.
The S4 will be the first handset to take advantage of Verizon's LTE network upgrade. It will sell for $199 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail in rebate.
