MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - LifeSouth will hold a second blood drive at Mobile Police Headquarters in honor of Mobile Police Officer Chad Wynne.
The drive will begin at 8 a.m. on March 12.
Mobile Police Chief Micheal Williams said he believes the two drives serve as a significant honor to Chad Wynne, who was shot responding to a robbery at the Winn-Dixie on Government Street.
Wynne, who responded to the call while off-duty, is recovering at USA Medical Center. His condition was improved to serious by doctors on Saturday.
LifeSouth Coastal Alabama District Director Keith Manwaring said donations from Mobilians helped to save Officer Wynne's life when he most needed it.
"Donors coming to this blood drive will help us stay ready, and with the recent weather difficulties we've faced across the state and schools heading into spring break, we certainly need donors every day to keep up with the demand," Manwaring said.
Mobile Police Headquarters is located at 2460 Government Street and the donations will be taken until 5 p.m.
