BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala. (WALA) - Residents at a Bayou La Batre senior home said they want their voices heard.
On Monday, April 29, FOX10 told you about a group of senior citizens claiming black mold in their apartments is making them sick. According to residents, mold testing was done recently but they said they still haven't received the results.
The property manager at AHEPA told FOX10 it's against company policy to speak with the media.
One resident at AHEPA told said our attempts have not gone un-noticed.
"It's maybe a little bit of hope that maybe things will get taken care of," the resident said.
A resident, who asked not to be identified, said some residents feel their concerns about possible black mold in their apartments are being ignored.
"There are some serious problems that had been scoffed at. No proper attention. We still have our minds, our good minds. We know what's right and wrong," the resident said.
The resident said she wants her concern taken seriously.
"I refuse to let you tell me or try to convince me, scare me or intimidate me to go home and shut up," she said.
She said she likes to address issues head on, especially if it could possibly affect her health.
"I plan to live another 20 years just so I can aggravate my children," the resident said.
Some residents told FOX10 it would calm their nerves if management told them how to get rid of the mold in their apartments. A few of them said they don't know how to get it under control.
FOX10 News left messages with AHEPA's attorney. However, we have not heard back.
