MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Room 116 at the Delta 6 Residence complex has been cleaned out and boarded up following a homicide early Sunday morning.
Police responded to the murder of James Dean on the University of South Alabama campus at around 6 a.m.
"I was walking by and they were bio-cleaning his whole room which really freaked me out," said Jenna Hassell who lives in the university complex. "I walked by, and I could see all the blood on the floor."
USA Police said 19-year-old Brandon Ajizadeh confessed to fatally stabbing the victim. Many students said they saw Ajizadeh just moments after the murder and were frightened.
Neighbors said they saw the suspect running door-to-door, frantically yelling for help. Many were reluctant to open the door because they felt threatened by his behavior.
"The guy came knocking on the door and asking for help, saying he had cuts on his hand and he was fully dressed," said next-door neighbor Rachell Cumbo. "He said he woke up outside, and he didn't know how he got there."
"He was confused about what was going on," said Hassell. "He said his friend was in the room and he was locked out and needed help."
Ajizadeh's neighbors said they did not know him personally but noticed he was a bit withdrawn from social situations.
"He was quiet. He didn't say much. He was really smart though, and that's pretty much how we met - because of class," said Cumbo.
"I didn't think he would do what he just did. Just a normal student - that's what I thought he was," said neighbor Jaylond Franklin.
Police said the relationship between the suspect and the victim is still unclear.
Ajizadeh's next-door neighbor said she has seen the victim, who is not a University of South Alabama student, and heard the two argue many times before.
"He has been here since I got here," said Cumbo. "I've been seeing him alot, so he's been staying here as a guest since the beinning of June to mid June."
