MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - FOX10 News is investigating a neighborhood problem after a resident alerted us. Latosha Jones said it involves damage from the Christmas Day 2012 tornado in the 300 block of St. Charles Avenue.
CHURCH HEAVILY DAMAGED
The tornado heavily damaged the Sweet Pilgrim Baptist Church, but debris still remains in front if the church.
Jones said, "I know the church knows that's there. Someone could come move it. It's wet stuff. That's nothing but a hazard for rats, snakes, and something needs to be done about it."
She said the problem is more than unsightly, its unhealthy.
Jones said, she has seen "Big rats, the size of cats, wood rats."
ANOTHER BAD DEBRIS SPOT
What's more, Jones said, right next door, there's a huge pile of debris that's been around so long, grass has grown over it.
She said she's asked the city to get it cleaned up.
Jones said, "And, on this, when I followed up, like I said the other day, they told me I would have to find out who the owner is. Why would I have to find out who the owner is? Why would I have to do that? You're the city. You've been picking up this trash before before it got that big. What's the problem now?"
