PENSACOLA, Fla. - Pensacola Police now have a warrant out for the arrest of asuspected bank robber. They're looking for Eddy Mullins. He robbedthe Regions Bank on Bayou Boulevard Wednesday afternoon. It wasn'tyour run of the mill bank robbery. He took a cab there, went in anddemanded money and left in the taxi.
Efrem Carter was the taxi-driver, and in his seven-yearsdriving, he's never experienced anything like this.
He says it all started when he picked up a passenger who askedhim to run by the bank so he could cash a check. Police say thepassenger cashed in all right but it was on the bank's wallet.
Police say Eddy Mullins robbed the bank, while Carter waitedoutside. Carter said, "He acted normal, wasn't in a big rush,nothing like that, didn't think too much about it."
The suspect got back in the car and had carter drop him off afew blocks away. "Within four to seven minutes [he] came back out,told me to go, continue on to address, then he said he'd get off atchurch nearby. He got out, [and] he got into another car," saidCarter.
Carter says the only thing suspicious is the fare only cost$5.50 but the suspect handed him $20 and told him to keep thechange.
Carter said it still didn't make him think the passenger robbeda bank. He said, "Maybe he was in rush, ready to get out of cab,get to where he had to go, give me tip."
Carter had no idea a crime had taken place, until he saw policelights in his rear view mirror. He said, "As I was pulling out, Iheard police sirens. Next thing I know, the police was on me.Telling me to put my hands up and get out of car. They took me backto the bank, finger printed the car and asked me what he waswearing, stuff like that."
