MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - On Monday, February 18, FOX10 News learned that an investigation was underway at Mary G. Montgomery High School into alleged sexual misconduct between a teacher and a student.
Authorities with the Mobile County Sheriff's Office confirmed they are investigating a female teacher at the school who's been accused of having sexual contact with one of her students.
Investigators said a counselor reported a possible inappropriate relationship between the teacher and student, as is required by law.
A source close to the investigation said the student is only 14 years old.
The Mobile County Public School System confirmed the teacher in question has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation.
FOX10 News has learned the name and identity of this teacher. However, we are holding off on releasing that until authorities wrap up their investigation.
