MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Ten suspects are accused of performing sexual actives in some of the places you and your family like to visit like Mobile Municipal Park and Crestview Park.
The Mobile Police Department conducted a "deviant sexual activity," sweep over two days at three locations throughout the city.
A bridge near Halls Mill and Demotropolis roads, Crestview Park on Roland Dr. and Municipal Park on Zeigler Blvd were the sites of the operations.
"We had gotten complaints of people loitering for sexual deviant purposes so we did have officers over there undercover and arrested 10 individuals who were in these areas for that purpose," said MPD spokesperson, Ashley Rains.
One resident who lives near Crestview Park said there have been problems in the past.
"(I had) no idea that even happened. No one informed us weren't told. It just blows my mind," she said.
"We actively patrol this area as many days and nights as we can. This had been an ongoing problem for 4 or 5 years now," said Crestview community watch president, Milton Marrow.
Residents said they're glad arrests have been made but they want to put an end to the problem.
"We're tired. We're going to take back our neighborhoods," Marrow said.
