MOUNT VERNON, Ala. (WALA) - UPDATE: Authorities have relased the names of theindividuals who died in an early Wednesday morning crash south ofMount Vernon.
Chase Alan Stevens, 19, of Semmes, and passenger Justin BlakeAverette, 19, of Theodore died when the Honda Accord they wereriding in left the roadway. The vehicle crossed the median andentered northbound traffic, hitting a 2006 Ford truck driven byMichael Cummings Vise, 35, of Mobile.
Stevens, Averette, and Vise died at the scene of the crash.
The truck’s front-seat passenger, Benjamin Hugener, 25, ofMobile, was taken to USA Medical Center.
9:11 a.m. Three people were killed in an accidenton Highway 43 in north Mobile county early Wednesday morning. Ithappened south of Mount Vernon, near Chastang, Alabama.
Alabama State Troopers tell Fox10 News a Honda Accord wastraveling south around the 23 mile marker when the driver lostcontrol and hit the median. The car went airborne and crashedinto the cab of a northbound F-150 pickup truck.
Both the driver and the passenger in the Honda and the driver ofthe truck died on the scene. A passenger in the truck was taken toUSA Medical Center in Mobile in critical condition.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of theaccident.
