PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Pensacola Police said a crash on Scenic Highway at Hyde Park Road sent two people to the hospital, one of whom was in critical condition on Sunday.
The investigation will continue into the accident, which occurred around 2:45 in the afternoon, and left traffic detoured until around 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Police said Jose Fernandez was driving a 2005 pickup truck and tried to make a left turn onto Scenic Highway in front of the two motorcyclists, who were travelling in the southbound lanes.
Christopher Davis and Gunther Latzer, both 26, tried to swerve to avoid the truck. The accident left Davis, who was not wearing a helmet, with critical injuries. Latzer was wearing his helmet, and was hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries.
Fernandez was not injured.
Police said neither excessive speed nor alcohol were factors in the accident.
Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
