DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) - Friends and family filed into Connect Church in Daphne to celebrate the life of Wendy Fisher.
Fisher was gunned down just yards from her home nearly a week ago.
During the memorial service Pastor Buford Lipscomb told mourners not to let that evil act define Fisher's life.
There were tears and laughter as those who knew her best shared stories of her life.
Her mother, Carol Fisher, said her daughter was one of a kind.
She described her daughter for Fox Ten News.
"Crazy boots, tattoos and colored hair," said Carol Fisher. "Spontaneous, lots of fun and a joy, a great joy in our life and the lives of many others."
Our camera was not allowed inside where it was standing room only as Fisher's daughter Madelynn talked about her mother working two jobs to put a roof over their heads.
Madelynn said her mother is now her guardian angel.
Fisher's father, Harold, said he was overwhelmed by the love and support shown to his family.
"A lot of people we knew and a lot of people we did not. We're just glad that the people showed up and showed their love," said Harold Fisher.
Harold and Carol Fisher also thanked the Mobile Police Department for its work.
"I want to say thank you to the Mobile Police Department for the fine job they did," said Harold Fisher.
Wendy Fisher was 40 years old.
She is survived by two children and a host of other family members.
