MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A woman's home suffered severe damage during a tornado and severe thunderstorm that hit Mobile on Dec. 20. She was home at the time, but said somehow slept through it all.
The tornado blew down Paris Avenue toppling trees and sending them straight into Debbie Russell's home.
"Just sort of made a big hole in the side of the rooftop," said Russell.
Russell said she slept through the whole thing.
"The siren woke me up. Then I heard people talking, and I heard one of my neighbors (say), 'She's in there.' So I thought I better go see who that is," said Russell.
She said that's when she saw the damage. Several trees all taken out by the storm one landing in her home and anther on her car.
"I was just stunned, in disbelief, you know," said Russell.
Russell said she fell asleep on the couch Wednesday night, which she considers a blessing. Her bedroom was the hardest hit.
"I'm quite blessed, and I'm very thankful God looked out for me," said Russell.
Now, it's time to clean up.
"It's going to take an awful lot of work to get it all done," said Russell.
