MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - No doubt, you enjoyed a quieter morning without school, and for some, a day off of work. Labor Day is an annual event we celebrate here in the United States on the first Monday in September. The holiday was created in honor of the American worker, and to celebrate the Labor Movement.
More than 200 years ago, thousands of workers took the day off of work without pay, and participated in the very first Labor Day parade in New York City.
We have parades across the Gulf Coast on Labor Day. And, all kinds of other activities from picnics to barbeques to fundraisers take place on this holiday. We wanted to know what you are doing to celebrate the holiday, and we asked on our Fox 10 News Facebook page.
