MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - To put it lightly, 2012 was not the year for the Auburn Tigers. The team finished 3 – 9 overall - and went winless in the SEC. This season, Auburn is hoping to rebound and get back to the national champion's they were just three years ago. With a new coach and new signal caller - Auburn is ready to turn it around this season beginning in week one, against Washington State.
"We had a 14 period practice, it was mainly Washington State prep, than it was anything and I thought it was a solid practice. Obviously you already know we've named Nick Marshall our starting quarterback,” said Malzahn.
According to Malzahn, Marshall has out-preformed everyone and has a lot of play making ability.
The new starter is happy he's been given the opportunity.
"It felt good because I work hard to get where I am today, and I just basically had the chance her gave me,” said Marshall.
"We really feel like he'll have a chance to improve and get better each practice and each game, he didn't have the luxury of going through spring, but what he knows, he knows extremely well,” said Malzahn.
