ARF junior volunteer makes Valentines from animals looking for forever homes

Posted: Updated:
MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

A local boy with a rare heart disease is spearheading a special Valentine's project this year.

Melanie Long said after making more than 1,000 Valentines for sick children in Mobile in 2014, her 10-year-old son Tanner wants to help the Animal Rescue Foundation this year. Tanner is a junior volunteer for ARF.

"He wanted to show that kids and dogs go together. So what he wants to do is have people come to ARF and make Valentines and pick a dog who it's from. Just to show that these dogs are, they're searching for their forever home. They're not giving up hope, they're friendly, and they're waiting for someone to come and love them," said Melanie.

You can contact the Animal Rescue Foundation if you'd like to help Tanner with his project. You can call them at (251) 443 - 1198 or email them at info@animalrescuemobile.org.
