Woofstock: "It's like Woodstock with your dog!"

MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

If you haven't picked your Halloween costume yet, maybe you can get an idea from one of these four-legged friends. From fairies, to football players, and even an ice cream sundae, Woofstock took over Bienville Square Sunday with dog-lovers and their best friends, all to benefit the Animal Rescue Foundation.

Vice President of the Animal Rescue Foundation says not only is it a great event for Mobilians to enjoy with their dogs, it reminds her of why her organization is so important.

"We just see so many dogs that we've helped save parading up on stage, visiting us, and it's so nice when people come and be like, 'you helped me adopt my dog!'"

Tents and a big music stage filled Bienville Square, with activities like a doggie costume contest, wiener dog races, food, drinks and kissing booths...to kiss a dog of course.

One dog who was adopted from the foundation, Yogi, made international headlines, after being adopted by a local woman, Maria Williamson, who was shot in the face while sitting at a red light in July. Just like Williamson, Yogi is missing one eye after a dog attacked him. Now Williamson says she has a whole new perspective on life because of her situation and bond with Yogi. She had a booth at Woofstock raising money for her cause.

Founder of Woofstock, Amanda Kramer, says she created the event ten years ago after finding an abandoned dog and bringing it to the Animal Rescue Foundation.

"ARF was the only one that stepped up to the plate and I just wanted to do something and pay it back. So, we started as a little crawfish boil, it was one hundred people, and now it's grown to this."

Kramer says this year is the largest Woofstock they've had, and that just means more doggie love to go around.
