The group "Mobile Works" is changing its name and changing its direction. It's now the "Southwest Alabama Partnership for Training Employment." The organization provides funding for training programs that help people compete in today's job market. Sydney Raine and Pamela Ware stopped by Studio10 to tell us more:
Mobile Works recently announced a name change and a new direction in operations effective July 1. Mobile Works has ceased operations as the local workforce investment agency for Mobile County and will now manage operations as Southwest Alabama Partnerships for Training and Employment (SWAPTE) to reflect a regional role in workforce development. Under SWAPTE, training and employment activities will be managed for Baldwin, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Mobile, Monroe, Washington and Wilcox Counties.
Southwest Alabama Partnership for Training Employment provides funding for short term training and employment programs to area businesses and schools to prepare job seekers with the necessary skills to compete in today’s job market.
