MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

In Florida, the Governor is ordering 1.4 million people to evacuate.

One young man from Spanish Fort, Blake Admire, had a grueling drive trying to leave the Orlando area, where he goes to college.

He said it took him 12 hours to travel 350 miles up the Florida coast.

"There were times where we would go about five miles per hour, and then we get little spurts of going 50 miles per hour, and then it was right back to another bumper to bumper," said Admire.

Admire has finally made it to the Georgia-Alabama border, and he plans to take shelter in Tuscaloosa with family.

"It's not fun, but it is what it is," he said.

Hotels and campgrounds across the southeast are booking up as evacuees search for a place to stay.

The Grounds in Mobile is usually closed to public camping, but it's offering parking space for evacuees with RVs or campers to stay, because of the limited amount of space at other RV campgrounds.

"Right now we're looking forward to a couple of people coming in later tonight, and we will probably see a lot more tomorrow morning," said Executive Director Josh Woods.

There is a suggested donation fee of $15 to cover water, electric, sewer, and security, but Woods said you're still welcome if you can't pay that fee.

"We're not making any money off of this, that's not our mission, or mission is to give back to the community, and help people where they need it," said Woods.

If you don't have an RV or camper, but there's nowhere else to go, Woods said you're also welcome to sleep in your car in the parking lot.

"We have a large parking lot, 96 acres that we have developed, if you need a place to sleep, and hotels are full, if you need to sleep in your car, there is a parking lot,  anything we can do to help," said Woods.
