MPD Weekend Recap: Woman raped in vacant home

MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

This is a part of the weekend crime report distributed by the Mobile Police Department. These crimes occurred between Friday, Sept. 8 and Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017.


Robbery 1st
On Friday, September 8, 2017 at approximately 5:31 a.m. police responded to the Exxon Gas Station located at 670 Schillinger Road North. Two suspects entered the store armed with handguns, demanded money and fled on foot. 

Domestic Violence (Strangulation)
On Friday, September 8, 2017 at approximately 8:10 a.m. police responded to the 1300 block of Leo Street in reference to a domestic violence investigation. The victim stated her boyfriend struck her in the face and strangled her three different times. Cecil Hayden, 40, was arrested. 

Reckless Endangerment
On Friday, September 8, 2017 at approximately 9:01 a.m. police responded to the 10 block of South Florida Street. Officers found a 7 year old and 9 month old left home alone. Solomon Singleton, 32, was arrested.

Rape 1st / Sodomy 1st / Kidnapping 1st
On Friday, September 8, 2017 at approximately 8 p.m. police responded to the 1400 block of Stone Hedge Drive for a report of a rape. The victim stated she thought she was talking to a female on the Whisper app. The victim invited the subject to her home. When she approached the vehicle at the driveway, an unknown male produced a handgun and demanded she get in the vehicle. He drove to a vacant house and forced the victim to have sex.

Theft of Property 1st
On Saturday, September 9, 2017 at approximately 1:05 a.m. police responded to a theft at Cheetah Speed Laundry located at 6920 Airport Blvd. The victim stated he left several loads of laundry in the dryers while he left to get something to eat. When the victim returned, all his clothes were stolen. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance / Reckless Endangerment / Harassment 
On Saturday, September 9, 2017 at approximately 10:42 a.m. police responded to the Walmart located at 5245 Rangeline Road in reference to numerous reports of an unknown subject driving recklessly through the parking lot and striking another vehicle. Arrestee Jon Hart, 40, was found high on narcotics and thought he was being chased.

Receiving Stolen Property 1st / Warrants
On Saturday, September 9, 2017 at approximately 3:27 p.m. police responded to the 5400 block of Windmill Drive for a trespassing complaint. Officers located a male and female inside the residence. A vehicle parked behind the residence was active stolen out of the MCSO jurisdiction. Marcus Sanders, 36, and Rachel Elkins, 31, were arrested. 

Robbery 1st
On Sunday, September 10, 2017 at approximately 12:42 a.m. police respond to Baymont Inn and Suites, 5634 Tillman’s Corner Parkway. A male subject entered the hotel armed with a handgun and demanded money, and then fled on foot. 

One Injured
On Sunday, September 10, 2017 at approximately 2:56 p.m. police responded to a shooting at the 1600 block of Neshota Drive. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering for a gunshot wound with possible life-threatening injuries. The victim stated that she and her girlfriend were playing with the gun and the gun went off.
