Local cheer team shows true meaning of acceptance

Posted: Updated:
THEODORE, AL (WALA) -

At Theodore High School they have a saying that they live by, one mind, one soul, one heartbeat. The cheer team is a prime example of that saying.

"I just think everybody deserves to be a part of a team,” said Theodore Varsity cheer coach, Tabitha Sexton.

But this group of girls isn’t just a normal team.

They are also role models showing what it means to accept everyone.

"Even though they might be a little different than us anybody can still be positive and happy about anything,” said Theodore Senior cheerleader, Kyla Brown.

And that's just what these two special young ladies bring to the bobcat cheer squad.

"I just like to cheer with them a lot,” said Theodore Freshman cheerleader, Haley Dixon.

"I love cheerleading here,” said Theodore Senior cheerleader, Jakayla Penn.

Through every cheer, every touchdown, and every smile, Haley and Jakayla have taught the entire bobcat nation a life lesson.

"They've been given so many hardships in life but through that they still smile every day and they are our cheerleaders,” said Theodore Varsity cheer coach, Tabitha Sexton.

"They have such good positivity and vibes to give to the team so just to be able to have them is a blessing,” said Theodore Senior cheerleader, Mallory Henderson.
