MOBILE COUNTY, AL (WALA) -

Here is an updated list of damages done to Mobile County roads, bridges and facilities following Hurricane Nate.

Bayfront Park and Dauphin Island Airport are closed due to storm surge damage.

Strickland Youth Center has been operating on emergency generator power, but Alabama Power is restoring permanent power this morning.

Michael Square is operating on reduced power provided by emergency generators. All four Revenue Commission offices* closed today. License Commissioner operating on generator power. Restoration of permanent power by Alabama Power was planned for last night but was delayed for replacement of a transformer damaged by the storm. Building Maintenance is on site coordinating efforts and permanent power is expected to be restored this morning.

Damage survey teams are performing detailed inspections of each facility Preliminary reports indicate that the majority of damage was caused by storm surge with some limited damage caused by downed trees.

The Mobile County Public Works assessment team has examined damage to one bridge on Shell Belt Rd. and two bridges on Coden Belt Rd. Damage to all three bridges includes washed out asphalt approaches and displaced riprap, some of which is now on the roadways. An engineering survey to check the bridges for structural safety will be carried out this week. Both roads will remain closed until all repairs are made.
