Attendance reported significantly lower at Saraland High Thursday

SARALAND, AL (WALA) -

The superintendent of Saraland City Schools says attendance was significantly lower than usual Thursday at Saraland High School.

Superintendent Dr. Aaron Milner sent out a letter earlier this week saying there would be an increased police presence at schools Thursday.

The letter said it was for the students safety because of what was perceived as a threat from someone who was using a school computer.

Because the incident is under investigation, Milner couldn't go into exact detail about the threat.

But he did say classes began Thursday morning with no problems.

Milner said, "Tomorrow (Friday) we expect all students of Saraland High School to be in attendance and, for the remainder of the year, we've taken steps to make sure that an incident like this dies not happen again."

Milner didn't talk about what steps the school system is taking,  but he said police will be in schools Friday as well.
