Events mark Veterans Day 2017

GULF COAST, AL (WALA) -

Veterans Day in 2017 is on Saturday November 11. It's a day intended to honor and thank all military personnel who served in the United States in all wars, particularly living veterans. Since it falls on a Saturday this year, many states will observe the federal holiday on Friday, November 10. 

Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile will celebrate Veteran's Day beginning Friday with the following activities: 
6:45 a.m. - Flag Raising Ceremony
1-4 p.m. - Book Signing - "Hooray for the Mighty A" by author Karen Tucks 
in the gift shop
2:15 p.m. - Skydivers bring in the American Flag - Field
3 p.m. - Veteran's Day Celebration and Parade of Flags - Pavilion - free admission to the event
7 p.m. - Veteran's Day Concert featuring the Mobile Pops - Pavilion - free admission to the event
