Veteran’s day is coming up this Saturday. While we honor the men and women who have served our country's military, unfortunately some veterans experience difficulty in receiving the benefits they deserve. David Greene from Greene & Phillips Law Firm joined us on Studio10 to help answer some legal questions regarding these veteran benefits.
The following questions and answers were provided by Greene and Phillips:
David, first off, what are veterans entitled too?
There are many benefits, but one that’s particularly important is that under federal law, if you are injured in the employment of the military, and those injuries prevent you from being able to work, you are owed both health and financial benefits for those injuries.
If a veteran has applied for benefits, but has been denied what should they do?
Unfortunately there are many veterans who get denied claims or denied disability ratings. The good news is that there is a way to appeal those decisions, but it can be very difficult to win those appeals without the help of a lawyer who handles this type of case. The important thing to remember is that you have a very limited time to file that appeal for it to be considered, so it’s really important to talk to a lawyer as soon as you can, if you’ve been denied veteran benefits.
What’s the advantage of hiring a lawyer to work on your claim?
Having a lawyer work on your case, is not only going to speed up the process, but you’re much more likely to get a higher disability rating, than you would without a lawyer.
How much does it cost to hire a Veterans Benefits Lawyer?
There is no charge at all unless we get money for you.
How can a veteran reach out to you if they have questions about their claim?
You can call us at 300-2000, find us at greenephillips.com, or stop by the office on Florida St. any time. You never need an appointment.
