SARALAND, AL (WALA) -

Tuesday was a day to celebrate in our nation’s capital for Saraland Elementary School and the Saraland city school system.

Representatives were in Washington, D.C. to receive their national Blue Ribbon School award. Saraland Elementary was one of only 5 schools in Alabama, and the only one from our area to receive the honor, which is a sign of outstanding achievement.

One of those attending the ceremony was Saraland Elementary School Principal Stan Stokely who told FOX10 News, “It was very exciting. I'm just thankful that our school system gave us the opportunity to come up here and be a part of this special day, and very exciting for the Saraland City schools”.
