After senate candidate Roy Moore, a former Alabama Chief Justice, was accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl, State Auditor Jim Zeigler defended Moore.

He gave three reasons as to why he believes people shouldn't be concerned with the allegations.

First, he said Moore adamantly denies the report.

Second, Zeigler said the timing of the allegations is suspicious, as they are coming to the forefront more than 30 years later.

Third, Zeigler said the allegations don't include any accusations of sexual intercourse with the minors.

"The report did not say that Roy Moore had sexual intercourse with a single person," Zeigler told FOX10 News.  "They've not alleged anything except a single 30-year-old man dating younger girls, that's even at the worst case scenario."

Zeigler also reportedly used biblical references to defend Moore.

"Take Joseph and Mary," he said. "Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus."

Zeigler went on to explain that even if the allegations were true, the fact Moore allegedly didn't attempt any sexual intercourse with the teenagers quote "shows his intentions."

Zeigler would not elaborate any further about his previous comments regarding the biblical references, but he did tell FOX10 News that Moore's track record over the last 30 years shows the allegations are not believable.
