Following the extreme success of Pokemon GO, Niantic Labs has its latest augmented reality title that will totally have fans of J.K. Rowling's literary works super thrilled.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will let you step into the wizarding world via AR. The Harry Potter stories have captured imaginations around the globe for more than 20 years. Each of the seven books by author J.K. Rowling has broken sales records, with the series to date having sold over 450 million copies worldwide and translated into 80 languages.
The game will turn your neighborhoods into a landscape filled with magical creatures, spells to learn, and powerful enemies to take down. Like Pokemon GO, it's pretty safe to assume that Wizards Unite will have a strong community aspect to it.
Players will wander around different neighborhoods and cities, as they will embark on different adventures, learn and cast spells, discover mysterious artifacts, and encounter legendary beasts and iconic characters.
“At Niantic, our goal is to leverage technology to create real world experiences that help people to discover the wonderful, and often magical parts of the world around them,” said John Hanke, founder and CEO of Niantic, Inc. “The beloved Harry Potter stories have captured imaginations worldwide for more than 20 years and soon we’ll turn the fantasy into augmented reality, allowing fans and their friends to become wizards and witches.”
No specifics on when the game will drop, additional details will be announced in 2018.
