ORANGE BEACH, AL (WALA) -

Hundreds of chefs from around the world gathered in Orange Beach for a huge competition.

The World Food Championships wrapped up Sunday at The Wharf. Organizers said 460 teams from 45 states and 14 countries competed for a share of $300,000 in prize money.

This is the sixth year for the competition and the second year it has been held in Orange Beach. The city has also agreed to host the event for the next three years.

Along with the chefs, thousands of people hoping to taste some of the good food turned out. They could sample 20 dishes for only $5.

Teams competed in ten categories each with a $10,000 prize. The overall winner received $100,000.

The winners were picked by a panel of food experts and celebrity judges. Two of those were FOX10 News reporters Devan Coffaro and Hal Scheurich.
