Teen says men lured her with baby car seat trap; MCSO investigating alleged attempted abduction

Posted: Updated:

The Mobile County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating an alleged attempted abduction of a teenager.

A 16-year-old girl says she was driving home around 6 p.m. Sunday on Highway 158 when she noticed a baby carrier on the side of the road. The girl says she got out of her car to check if a baby was inside, when two men came out of the woods and tried to grab her. She says another car drove up and scared the men away.

The girl told FOX10 news, "I looked to my right because they looked to their right. There was a car coming in. So we all saw the headlights and they looked at each other and they looked back at me. The guys talk to each other they said, 'run', and they started running back into the woods that they came from. I'm still shaken up a little bit when I drive, or when I'm at red lights... even going to sleep last night. it was scary."

On Monday night, the sheriff's office met with the girl's family to file a report. While they investigate the case, deputies urge everyone to stay in their cars if they see anything out of the ordinary on the road.

The teen's story is scary, but also similar to a story deemed an "urban myth" across the nation. The teen says she is aware of the skepticism, and claims her story is true.

Investigators told FOX10 News there is a possibility of "copycat" criminals, and they will investigate the claim thoroughly. We will keep you updated.
