Three arrested after police chase on Eastern Shore

SPANISH FORT, AL (WALA) -

Three people are facing charges in Baldwin County. Investigators said they ran from police after they were caught shoplifting.

Spanish Fort Police said they were called to Kohl's after the store's loss prevention officer reported a theft. Officers arrived on scene and spotted the suspects, one male and two females, getting into a car in the parking lot.

According to the officers, once their blue lights were turned on, the suspects took off. Police chased to the car to Spanish Main Street and all three suspects bailed out of the vehicle. The car kept rolling and crashed into a mailbox and power pole before coming to a stop. Officers said about $2500 worth of items stolen from Kohls were found in the car. Police said the car was also reported stolen out of Prichard.

Spanish Fort Police called for a K-9 unit from Baldwin County Sheriff's Department to help locate the suspects. The police dog quickly found the two females hiding under shrubs near a drainage ditch. The search was called off after the K-9 officer failed to find the male suspect.

A short time later, a homeowner on Spanish Main Street arrived home and found the suspect hiding on his back patio. He called police and the suspect took off running ago. Investigators say the suspect made it to Highway 225 where a passerby unknowingly gave him a ride to the Walmart in Daphne. Officers said the driver called police when he realized that something was amiss and the suspect was arrested at Walmart.

The male suspect is identified as 19-year-old Parnell Treymaine Scott of Mobile. One female is identified as 19-year-old Kearston Alexandria Howze. The third suspect is a juvenile and her identity will not be released.

All three are charged with theft, receiving stolen property, and attempted to elude police.
