Man arrested for Baldwin County vehicle break-ins

BALDWIN COUNTY, AL (WALA) -

A 28-year-old man was arrested during a traffic stop in Baldwin County Tuesday and charged with a series of vehicle break-ins in the Loxley and Daphne areas. 

The vehicle burglaries occurred earlier this month in the Chamberlin Trace and Plantation Hills neighborhoods, according to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.

Analysis of evidence collected from the scenes identified Frank Lee McCall III of Loxley as a possible suspect in the thefts, the BCSO said in a news release. 

Then on Tuesday patrol officers with the Silverhill Police Department and Loxley Police Department stopped a vehicle occupied by McCall.

McCall was taken into custody after it was discovered that he had active warrants for his arrest. Investigators with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division responded to the traffic stop and conducted an interview with McCall.  During the interview McCall confessed to his involvement in the vehicle burglaries, the Sheriff's Office said.

McCall was arrested and charged with of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle with additional charges pending, according to the Sheriff's Office. During the investigation it was determined McCall targeted vehicles with unlocked doors.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public to lock vehicle doors and remove any valuables from plain view.

"We also extend our appreciation to the members of the community that came forward with security surveillance video that assisted in this investigation," the Sheriff's Office said in the news release detailing the investigation and arrest.
