Truck driver killed in crash at Alabama Welcome Center

MOBILE COUNTY, AL (WALA) -

Alabama State Troopers said a crash involving an 18-wheeler left one man dead and another person injured. 

It happened at 6:50 a.m. Sunday at the Alabama Welcome Center on Interstate 10 in Mobile County just east of the Alabama/Mississippi state line. Investigators say the truck driver left the road, hit a tree and then caught fire. 

Troopers said the truck driver was killed. Their identity has not been released. A passenger in the truck,  Bisrat A. Tekle, 34, from Seattle, Washington, was injured in the accident. State Troopers did not have an update on Tekle's condition.
