(Meredith) – "They falsely accused Jesus. Vote Roy Moore." That's the phrase that has an Alabama church in hot water.

The political message was posted on The Living Way Ministries Church's outdoor sign. The message wasn’t posted by the pastor, but was posted by someone else who had keys to unlock the sign and change it, WHNT reported. The pastor requested its removal two days later.

Since the message was posted, WGNO said the church has received tons of phone calls from protesters, some even delivering threatening messages. Others have questioned whether or not the organization should continue to be tax exempt since they have endorsed a candidate.

Snopes, a website known for their detailed fact-checking of trending topics, stated that the photo of the sign started circulating on Nov. 30.

According to Snopes, they reached out to Living Way Ministries three times. The first time, no one answered. The second time, an unidentified person hung up after the website identified themselves as Snopes. The third time, they said their call went to what sounded like a fax machine.
