MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

A bold burglar, caught in the act, in the middle of the day. It happened over the weekend at a home in downtown Mobile. A man tried to kick in the door, and also smashed a window.

The homeowner wasn't there when the would-be intruder tried to get in. She didn't want to talk on camera but tells FOX10 News that she was running an errand when the crook triggered her cameras. That's when she got an alert on her phone that showed the man standing on her porch.

The video caught his every move. With hands in his pockets, casually scoping out a good way to get inside the home Saturday afternoon, the curious crook almost runs right into one of the cameras filming him.

He first jumps the fence around the house and heads straight for the porch. He stops in his tracks at the door, probably because of the several notices on the windows that warn people that cameras are rolling.

So he tries the back door. He's more aggressive this time, giving it a kick. When that doesn't work, he calmly walks away, back to the front of the house.

Avoiding the door, he rummages through the homeowner's stuff. She says she had some things left over from a garage sale, but apparently, it was nothing the bandit wanted either.

He left empty handed after a couple of minutes. The homeowner though, was left with a broken window. She says at some point he smashed her living room window, but the cameras didn't catch that.

But what they did catch was all over social media hours after it happened. The community had their eyes peeled, determined not to let this guy get away with anything else. Because of that, the homeowner tells me the man was arrested on Sunday for trespassing and attempted burglary. We are working to get that information confirmed with Mobile Police.
