Nike Training Club, Twitter, or Map My Run -- no matter which app you use the most, it's safe to say applications have enriched our lives in a lot of ways.

Apple, home of iTunes, is taking a look back at 2017 though the most influential app trends of the year.  This year millions of iPhone and iPad users got access to groundbreaking technology of AR -- augmented reality.  Developers created hundred of apps and games using the feature.  IKEA place was one of them.
The app was a hit download.  It lets shoppers see how the company's furniture will kook in their home before they buy.

Trend number two: Competition in real time!  Nothing beats the thrill of a head-to-head battle.  Multi-player games that were standouts from previous years kept players coming back to app stores...Clash Royale was a prime example of that.

But it's not all fun and games, it seems there was a surge in apps focused on mental health, mindfulness, and stress reduction in 2017.  According to Apple, apps like Headspace, and Calm dominated the scene with the most downloads.

What do you call page-turners with no pages?  Some of this year's best reading apps of course.  Yup, trend number four are apps that encourage us to appreciate books in new ways.  Bookout, for example gamifies reading, helping users to track their page-per-week goals with info-graphics.

Apple ranks Splitter Critters as the Game of the Year, Calm, as the App of the Year, and the top free apps are: YouTube, Bitmoji, AND Snapchat.

What fun apps will 2018 bring?
