Pork Chops w/ Mushroom & Onion Sauce

Tony Sawyer shows you how to make delicious bone-in pork chops, smothered in mushrooms and onions. We also learn about the wonderful services for senior adults at Via Health, Fitness & Enrichment Center.

INGREDIENTS:  

Bone-In Pork Chops 
Paprika flour 
Salt & Pepper 
Oil  

For mushroom sauce: 

Mushrooms (sliced or whole) 
Diced onion 
Oleo  

STEPS:  

Season pork chops with salt & pepper. 

Dip lightly in paprika flour and shake off excess.  Dip into oil, drain and place on baking pan. 

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes.  

For mushroom sauce:  

Saute mushrooms and onions in butter. Add to brown gravy.  

Serve over rice or hash brown potatoes.

ABOUT US:

The Via Center is a 42,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose facility with a fitness center, gymnasium, café, auditorium, billiards room, library, art and ceramics studios, computer lab, woodshop, classrooms, card rooms, adult day services, emergency food pantry, and administrative offices.

The Via Center is a community-based center.  We provide health, fitness and enrichment activities for older adults (seniors).

Education, seminars, screenings, consultations and clinics

Fitness--
Specialized senior fitness programs

Enrichment--
Continuous learning programs; computer training, language, painting, and ceramics

We serve 20,000 members and community users each year.

We also house a Community Needs Division: Information & Referral; an adult Daycare "GrandFriends;" a food pantry for hungry seniors; and Veteran's programs.

Our memberships are low - $10 per month - and many are paid for by members' insurance companies.

We are a private, non-profit organization.  Unlike other senior centers in our area, we only receive a portion of our funding from the City of Mobile.

SPECIAL EVENT INFORMATION:

On January 18th, we have our annual luncheon "Celebrate Seniors 2018."   This year's guest speaker is Shirley Cunningham.  Ms. Senior Mobile 2005.  Holder of all Alabama Power Lifting records in her age class.  At 74, she can lift 220 pounds!
